NYPA supplies power to a number of municipal electric utilities and rural electric cooperatives. If you have questions about a discontinuance notice or are trying to resolve a complaint about your service from one of these municipalities, we offer information and assistance here.

The municipal electric utilities and rural electric cooperatives that NYPA can help resolve complaints from include: Delaware County Electric Cooperative, Green Island Power Authority, Greenport Electric, Massena Electric Department, Oneida-Madison Electric Cooperative, Otsego Electric Cooperative, Sherrill Power & Light, Steuben Rural Electric, Village of Lake Placid Electric Department, Village of Marathon Electric Department, Mayville Electric & Water, Sherburne Electric, Tupper Lake Municipal Electric, and Village of Watkins Glen Electric Department.


Procedure for Resolving Discontinuance of Service

Pursuant to the New York Codes, Rules and Regulations (NYCRR), Title 21, Chapter X, Part 459, municipalities or rural electric cooperatives purchasing “all of its power requirements from the Power Authority of the State of New York shall incorporate into its service rules and enforce the procedures governing discontinuance of electric service as set forth in § 459.2 through § 459.14 of this Part”
